Houston Texans’ Tank Dell Injured in Florida Bar Shooting Incident

Houston Texans wide receiver Tank Dell was among several victims of a shooting incident at a bar in Florida on Saturday night, but thankfully, his injuries were not severe. The Texans announced in a statement on Sunday that Dell was one of several individuals shot at a private nighttime event at Cabana Live in Sanford, Florida. Dell received treatment for a gunshot wound at a local hospital and was subsequently discharged.

“We have been informed that Tank Dell was a victim of a shooting in Sanford, Florida, last night. He sustained a minor injury but has been discharged from the hospital and is in good spirits,” said the Texans. “We are in touch with him and his family and will provide further updates as appropriate, but we ask that his privacy be respected at this time. Our thoughts and prayers are with everyone involved in the incident.”

Reports indicated that 10 people were shot, and thankfully, all sustained non-life-threatening injuries. The Seminole County Sheriff’s Office stated that officers were patrolling the area shortly after midnight when they heard gunshots coming from the vicinity of Cabana Live, an entertainment venue featuring sports and music with large video panels by the poolside.

A spokesperson for the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office mentioned that “the incident began as a verbal altercation that escalated.” A 16-year-old suspect was apprehended on-site and taken to a local juvenile detention center. Police stated that those struck by gunfire primarily suffered injuries to their lower extremities. Dell was drafted by the Houston Texans in the third round last year. He amassed an impressive 47 receptions for 709 yards and 7 touchdowns in 11 games before sustaining an injury late in the season.
