‘Unforgettable Duet,’ ‘Hit & Miss Tour’ Land Indian Adaptations

Seoul-based format agency Something Special has closed two deals with India’s Karman Unlimited at Mipcom, licensing reality series “Unforgettable Duet” and unscripted comedy “Hit & Miss Tour” for adaptation in the subcontinent.

“Unforgettable Duet” centers on dementia patients who take rides on a so-called Memory Bus with family members, surrounded by personal mementos and a favorite song designed to trigger recollections. The format culminates in a studio duet between patient and relative, capped by a tribute performance from popular artists.

Comedy travelogue “Hit & Miss Tour” tracks five comedians — friends for two decades — as they compete in daily mini-challenges while traveling together. The format has logged more than 210 games and attracted tourism board sponsorships from Turkey and Greece. It’s the top-rated show on SK Telecom subsidiary Channel S, produced by Media S.

“Something Special is thrilled to announce these deals with such a wonderful company as Karman Unlimited in India,” said Jin Woo Hwang, president and executive producer of Something Special. “We are continuing our mission to bring Korean formats to the world. KOCCA [Korea Creative Content Agency] has been a great partner to facilitate our presence at Mipcom, and we look forward to soon announcing more deals we made at the market.”

“Karman Unlimited is excited to announce our very first deal with South Korea and to work with Jin and his team to bring two very different formats to India,” added Karman Unlimited founder Sunita Uchil. “The incredibly heart-felt ‘Unforgettable Duet’ will resonate with families all over the country and ‘Hit & Miss Tour’ is sure to bring much needed laughter to our audiences.”

Hwang and InSoon Kim, executive VP and head of content, founded Something Special in 2019 as Korea’s first TV format agency. The company reps international rights for top Korean indie producers and broadcasters in both scripted and unscripted programming.

Uchil, a former Zee TV International exec, launched Karman Unlimited to focus on global co-production, content licensing and formats.
