Quiver Distribution Buys Bella Thorne Mystery-Thriller ‘Saint Clare’

Quiver Distribution has acquired the North American rights to “Saint Clare,” a mystery-thriller starring Bella Thorne, Rebecca De Mornay, Frank Whaley and Ryan Phillippe.

Mitzi Peirone (“Braid”) directed and co-wrote the film alongside Guinevere Turner (“American Psycho”). It is based on the novel “Clare at Sixteen,” which was written by Don Roff. Quiver Distribution will release “Saint Clare” in select theaters nationwide and on demand on July 18, 2025.

The film is set in a small town where a solitary woman (Thorne) is haunted by voices that lead her to embark on a killing spree.

Thorne’s credits include “The Trainer” and “The DUFF.” De Mornay is best known for “The Hand That Rocks the Cradle” and “Risky Business.” Whaley has appeared in “Pulp Fiction” and “Broken Arrow.” And Phillippe has starred in “Cruel Intentions” and “Crash.” Bart Johnson, Joy Rovaris, Jan Luis Castellanos, Dylan Flashner and Erica Dasher are also part of the ensemble.

“I think making ‘Saint Clare’ taught me the same lessons the titular character is forced to master on her journey towards her own fate,” said Peirone. “To me, artists and people of faith are rather alike: both endeavors require relentless vision, unwavering belief, and sacrifice. So just like the martyred visionary general Joan of Arc, Clare has taught me that when you are destined with vision and clarity of purpose, then nothing can scare you – not loneliness, not violence, not being misunderstood and called insane, not rejection and ultimately not even death.”

“Saint Clare” had its world premiere at the 2024 Taormina Film Festival then continued its exhibition at FrightFest, Oldenburg International Film Festival and SXSW Sydney. It won best narrative feature and best director at the L.A. Independent Women Film Awards last year. The film’s score was composed by renowned singer-songwriter Zola Jesus. Her previous work in film scores includes contributions to Jim Jarmusch’s “Only Lovers Left Alive.” Working alongside her on three tracks was Philip Klein, who curates music for Disney, Pixar, Netflix, Sony and ABC motion pictures.

“We are thrilled to share ‘Saint Clare’ with audiences,” said Quiver Distribution Co-Presidents Berry Meyerowitz and Jeff Sackman. “The film unfolds as a visually striking and intense meditation into the sense of isolation and quiet evil that haunts this world, driven by a sublime performance from Bella Thorne and an evocative, gothic soundtrack from Zola Jesus.”

“Saint Clare” is executive produced by Thorne, Meyerowitz, Sackman, Cassian Elwes, Tom Culliver, Jere Hausfater, Larry Greenberg and TJ Smith. It was produced by Arielle Elwes, Veronica Radaelli, David Chackler and Joel Michaely.
