President Joe Biden Signs Bill Banning TikTok in the US, CEO Confident in Court Challenge

US President Joe Biden signed into law a bill on Wednesday that imposes a ban on TikTok in the United States if the Chinese company ByteDance, which owns the app, fails to remove the popular short video platform within the next nine months to a year.
The social media platform has gained significant popularity among young, left-leaning Americans, a critical demographic for Biden during the November elections against former President Donald Trump. Following Biden’s sanction, TikTok CEO Shou Zi Chew expressed the company’s hope to win a court challenge against the legislation. In a video posted moments after Biden signed the law, he stated, “Rest assured, we’re not going anywhere. The facts and the Constitution are on our side, and we hope to prevail again.”
