In New Mexico, a missing child has been found, and the FBI has a suspect in custody related to their disappearance
The harrowing events that unfolded in a New Mexico park last Friday have left a community reeling. A ten-month-old girl, Eleia Maria Torres, was reported abducted alongside the tragic discovery of her mother, Samantha Cisneros, and another woman, Taryn Allen, found deceased at the scene. The FBI, in a statement Monday morning, confirmed Eleia’s recovery and announced a suspect is now in custody. Details regarding Eleia’s condition remain undisclosed at this time, while the identity of the suspect has yet to be released.
Adding to the tragedy, Eleia’s five-year-old sister was also discovered injured at the park but is now in recovery. Authorities were alerted to the situation shortly before 4:30 p.m. Friday, responding to a call regarding the two deceased women near Covis, a town in eastern New Mexico. Both women, aged 23, were found with apparent gunshot wounds near a minivan, according to police reports. Samantha Cisneros, identified as Eleia’s mother, and Taryn Allen were the victims. The discovery prompted a swift investigation, with law enforcement combing the area for clues and assistance from the FBI.
During a press briefing on Sunday, authorities revealed that the parents of both children are cooperating with the investigation. The scene revealed items belonging to children, sparking a search for Eleia. Through interviews with family members, investigators confirmed Samantha Cisneros as Eleia’s mother. Raul Bujanda, the FBI’s Special Agent in Charge in Albuquerque, pledged the bureau’s unwavering support in apprehending those responsible for these heinous acts, underscoring the commitment to justice for Eleia and the grieving community of Clovis.
