Where is Jay Kelly?
George Clooney, who portrays the eponymous fictional movie star in Noah Baumbach’s dramedy “Jay Kelly,” wasn’t in attendance at the Venice Film Festival press conference. The actor, who arrived in Venice earlier this week, has reportedly scaled back his commitments because he’s feeling under the weather.
“George has been diagnosed with a sinus infection and is under doctors orders to cut back all activities today,” Clooney’s reps told Variety.
Instead, Baumbach and Clooney’s co-stars Adam Sandler, Laura Dern, Billy Crudup and Emily Mortimer will speak on behalf of the film.
In “Jay Kelly,” Clooney plays an aging movie star who faces a personal and professional reckoning. So he embarks on a road-trip through Europe with his long-time manager (Sandler) as the two reflect on their life choices, relationships and legacies. Baumbach wrote the film with Mortimer (“The Newsroom”) in her feature screenwriting debut.
More to come…
