Christel Miller, a key executive behind 2023’s “Jury Duty” television experiment, has joined Fabel Entertainment as senior creative executive of special projects.
In the newly created role, Miller will work with CEO Henrik Bastin and SVP Jasmine Russ to “expand the company’s diverse pipeline of premium scripted content, forging new partnerships, packaging projects with top talent, and guiding high-value development opportunities that advance the company’s long-term vision,” per a press release.
Fabel previously served as head of scripted content at Freevee, the free streaming service under Amazon MGM Studios. There, she led the development of the surprise comedy hit “Jury Duty” and helped launch “Sprung,” “Primo,” “High School” and the Fabel-produced series “Bosch: Legacy” and “Ballard.” She also helped develop Prime Video dramas “Motorheads” and “On Call.” Prior to Amazon, she worked at NBC — where she oversaw “Superstore,” “Parenthood,” “Good Girls,” “Blindspot,” “New Amsterdam” and “Grimm” — and Showtime during the era of “Dexter,” “The L Word” and “Nurse Jackie.”
“We have known Christel for a long time as a fantastic executive and collaborator working on the buyers side,” said Bastin. “She has a great eye for storytelling and a knack for identifying what makes a show special. We’re thrilled to have her join Fabel where she will hit the ground running with our team as we gear up for season two of ‘Ballard’ and ‘Bosch: Start of Watch’ in the new year.”
Russ added: “The fresh energy Christel brings to Fabel makes this next chapter for the company especially exciting. She’s a builder of hit series, a champion of great ideas, and a trusted creative guide. Her experience and genuine love of the craft makes her an inspiring partner — and exactly who we want in our corner making the television we love.”
Miller said, “I’ve long admired Fabel’s commitment to character-driven, fearless storytelling. This is a team that truly values creative collaboration and takes big swings. I’m honored to help shape the next phase of Fabel’s growth and continue building series that resonate around the world.”
