Conservative activist and Turning Points USA co-founder Charlie Kirk was shot Wednesday at an outdoor event at Utah Valley University, the organization confirmed.
“We are confirming that he was shot and we are praying for Charlie,” Aubrey Laitsch, public relations manager for Turning Point USA, told The Associated Press.
The extent and severity of his injuries are unknown.
Kirk was speaking to students from an outdoor tent when he was shot. A Utah Valley University alert said a single shot was fired on campus toward a visiting speaker and a suspect is in custody.
Kirk is a close ally of President Trump, who posted on social media about the shooting.
