Bodies Found in Mexico Amid Search for Missing American and Australians

Three bodies were discovered on Friday in the Mexican region where an American and two Australians have been missing for several days, according to multiple sources. Authorities have not confirmed whether the bodies correspond to the three missing tourists, said one source. However, a local police source stated that authorities found their burnt pickup truck about 65 kilometers from where the bodies were found.

The remains were found on a cliff south of the municipality of Ensenada, in Baja California, according to two security sources and a member of an activist group specialized in searching for missing people. According to information from the Baja California prosecutor’s office, as reported by Reuters, an American named Jack Carter Rhoad and two Australian siblings, Jake and Callum Robinson, were declared missing on April 29th.

It is believed that the three friends were surfing and camping near the town of Ensenada, about 90 kilometers south of Tijuana. Mexican authorities previously said a vehicle, tents, and a cell phone were found during searches in the area where the men were last seen. Three Mexican citizens were being questioned in connection with the case, though it’s unclear if they are suspects.
