Fans are mourning actor and director Rob Reiner, who was found dead Sunday with his wife.
Reiner made his mark as an actor on “All in the Family,” probing the generation gap of the late 1960s with his role as liberal hippie Michael “Meathead” Stivic opposite Carroll O’Connor’s blue-collar conservative Archie Bunker. Reiner then went on to direct such beloved 1980s and ’90s films as “This Is Spinal Tap” (1984) “Stand By Me” (1986), “The Princess Bride” (1987) and “When Harry Met Sally” (1989) and dramas “Misery” (1990) and “A Few Good Men” (1992).
The seasoned Hollywood insider was active in state and national politics. He leveraged his celebrity status to advocate for universal preschool programs that became California’s First Five Initiative, and against Proposition 8, the state ballot initiative that sought to ban same sex marriage.
Look back at the distinguished career of the actor, writer and director who was part of a Hollywood dynasty as the son of Carl Reiner and singer-actress Estelle Reiner.
