The “Scrubs” revival has lost one of its two showrunners a few weeks into production. Tim Hobert has stepped down from duties co-heading the series due to creative difference, while Aseem Batra will now serve as a solo showrunner as filming continues.
Hobert and Batra co-wrote the first episode of the “Scrubs” revival, which will see original cast members Zach Braff, Donald Faison, Sarah Chalke, Judy Reyes and John C. McGinley reprising their roles from the beloved series.
Both Hobert and Batra are “Scrubs” alumni. Hobert was credited as co-executive producer, executive producer and consulting producer on the original series, while Batra served as story editor, executive story editor and co-producer. Both worked with original series showrunner Bill Lawrence, who remains an executive producer on the revival series through his banner Doozer.
Hobert will remain credited as an executive producer for the first few episodes of the revival series. Production began in Vancouver in early October.
