Sarah Schweitzman has been named co-head of CAA Media Finance.
The sales agent will run the department alongside veteran Roeg Sutherland, overseeing the packaging and representation of independently financed film, television and digital content.
Schweitzman began her career as an assistant at CAA before leaving to work for filmmaker Alex Kurtzman’s production company, Secret Hideout. She later landed executive positions at 21st Century Fox and Vendôme Pictures, where she worked on several films including “Source Code,” “Kingsman: The Secret Service,” “Spy,” “The Greatest Showman” and more.
She returned to the agency in 2017. In the media financing department, she helped filmmakers secure financing and distribution deals. Some of her clients include Nadine Labaki, Jennifer Kent, Pamela Adlon, Rebecca Zlotowski, Ladj Ly, Karim Aïnouz and Dakota Johnson’s TeaTime Pictures. She played roles in the sales and financing of notable recent films such as “Bugonia,” “Conclave,” “Hit Man,” “Coda,” “My Old Ass,” “Challengers,” “The Holdovers,” “The Last Showgirl” and “May December.”
In an official announcement, Sutherland said, “Sarah and I have worked together in various capacities over the years. She is brilliant and has impeccable taste. I have always admired her creativity and fierce advocacy for artist. When she joined us nearly a decade ago, she fit right in and immediately became an essential member of our CAA team. I could not be prouder or more excited to see her step into this new role.”
Schweitzman’s ascension comes as she and Sutherland’s longtime colleague Ben Kramer departed CAA this year to pilot a new distribution division at indie mainstay Black Bear.
