The footage, compiled from multiple camera angles, is dated March 5, 2016, and was captured at the now-closed InterContinental Hotel in Century City, Los Angeles. CNN confirmed the location using publicly available photos of the hotel’s interior. In the video, Ventura exits a hotel room and heads towards a bank of elevators, followed closely by Combs, who is holding a towel around his waist. As Ventura attempts to gather herself, Combs retrieves a bag and suitcase near the elevators. He kicks her again, drags her briefly by her sweatshirt, and then leaves the scene. Moments later, Combs returns, appearing to push Ventura as reflected in a security mirror. He then hurls an object at her before the video cuts off as an elevator door opens.
Legal and Public Reactions
Douglas H. Wigdor, Ventura’s attorney, commented on the harrowing footage, stating, “The video further confirms the disturbing and predatory behavior of Mr. Combs. Words cannot express the bravery and resolve Ms. Ventura demonstrated in bringing this to light.” The Los Angeles District Attorney’s Office expressed their concern, acknowledging the video’s disturbing nature but noting that the statute of limitations for prosecuting the assault has expired.
LAPD and Hotel Responses
The LAPD confirmed their awareness of the video but stated there is no open investigation involving Combs. A representative from the former InterContinental Hotel indicated they no longer manage the property and have no access to past records or footage. Ventura has not commented on the video, and Combs has consistently denied all allegations.
